The original pool was completely demolished below the waterline and rebuilt from the inside out. One of the greatest technical challenges was the addition of the dramatic, sweeping curved perimeter beam and raised structural wall surrounding the pool. Because of the tight access between the residence and property line, every inch of the new structure had to be engineered and formed with absolute precision.
The project required extensive excavation, new underground drainage infrastructure, and a complete redesign of the hydraulic system. Oversized plumbing manifolds, multiple suction and return lines, and new water feature feeds were carefully routed through extremely confined spaces to deliver balanced flow and long-term reliability. A large underground drainage chamber and custom piping network were installed to manage groundwater and protect the structure from hydrostatic pressure—an engineering requirement rarely seen in a residential renovation.
Inside the pool, the entire floor was reconstructed with new reinforced concrete, insulation, and a heavy structural steel grid. The existing shell was tied into new rebar and concrete to create a monolithic structure capable of supporting the newly raised walls and expanded deck system. The curved cantilever beam alone required complex custom formwork and precision steel placement to achieve its flowing shape while maintaining structural integrity.
The renovation also featured the installation of fully custom perimeter overflow details, integrated deck jets, new entry steps, and an intricate full-glass mosaic tile finish. Every curve, radius, and transition had to align perfectly, making the tile work one of the most difficult aspects of the project. The finished surface appears effortless, but behind it lies hundreds of hours of layout, engineering, and hand craftsmanship.
